1989 - the introductory motive

Description

The opening of the Berlin Wall on November 9, 1989!

1989 is the first design of the famous porcelain edition of the Berlin Wall miniatures, memorizing the peak moment of the peaceful German revolution (We are people!).

The peaceful, persistent movement of East German citizens, celebrating the opening of the Berlin iron curtain on top of the concrete wall. A subtle collage of photography and porcelain.

Each miniature is precisely shaped in a scale of 1:25, following the original L-shape of the Berlin Wall concrete segments.

The artist designs are done with historical porcelain colours, using silk-screen printing, burned two times for brilliant glaze. Roughly 100 hands touch each miniature during the workshop processing.

Because of the nature of porcelain in the end each miniature is a unique item with distinguishing features.
